27 August 02025: Orders of Magnitude

"If you took a picture of it, magnified it a million times, and projected that image onto the edge of a razor blade, it would still look like a BB on a 4-lane highway."

 Such is my level of interest in the following items currently blowing up the I'net: 

1.  The Cracker Barrel logo.

2.  The Tay-Kel (which I really would like to see gain traction as the portmanteau name for that couple) engagement. 

I recognize that a lot of people are very invested in the second of those things, but I got more breaking news emails on that than on any death since Queen Elizabeth II. 

We need the occasional distraction from the more serious things that are going on these days, but it seems like there should be something better out there.

27 July 02025: An Inspiring Achievement

  Celebrity Deathwatch (It's been a busy week): Malcolm-Jamal Warner: 14 emails. Ozzy Osbourne: 14. Hulk Hogan: 11.  Chuck Mangione: 2. Arnold Palacios, governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands: 2.  (The second one was updating the first one; they were from the same source.)   Tom Lehrer , whose impact on my life exceeded all of the others combined by several orders of magnitude: 0.  What I find very interesting about Tom's online obituaries is that the comment sections are virtually unanimous in mourning his loss.  The first three folks above have some commenters who, while not exactly taking glee from their deaths, seem at least a little pleased in a "got what he deserved" kind of way.  (In the case of M-JW, it seems to be linked to his sort-of defense of Bill Cosby a while back.) (Regret) had to be retired when Genuine Risk won the Run for the Roses. Winning Colors came along a few years later and further diminished the value of this line of questioning. We lost another one today, when "Who was the only US President to serve two nonconsecutive terms?" was superseded by events. You know the ones.
